What You’re Actually Playing

The 2D side-view perspective sounds limiting until you realize how much is simulating under the hood. You’re managing oxygen levels, navigation, weapons, hull integrity, and crew roles all at once. Pick your role Captain, Engineer, Medic, Mechanic, Security and each has systems only they can handle properly. Engineers babysit the reactor and electrical grid. Mechanics patch hull breaches and fix broken equipment. Medics deal with injuries, infections, and the occasional alien parasite.

Missions range from cargo hauling between outposts to hunting massive creatures that can tear through your hull. The campaign mode has you progressing through increasingly hostile regions of Europa’s ocean, unlocking new equipment and submarines. Sandbox mode removes restrictions if you just want to experiment. Multiplayer supports up to 16 players, which gets chaotic fast when half the crew disagrees on whether to fight or flee from something massive outside.

Mobile Controls and Cross-Platform Play

Here’s where things get interesting. The developers adapted the PC controls for touchscreens without dumbing down the complexity. Context-sensitive buttons appear when you interact with systems tap a door to open it, press and hold to access the wiring panel behind it. The UI scales well across phone and tablet screens, though I’d recommend at least a 6-inch display if you want to read system readouts clearly.

Multiplayer works through local WiFi or online servers, supporting up to 16 players per submarine. The mobile APK connects to the same servers as PC players in some modes, which is honestly impressive. Single-player mode uses AI crew members, but they’re not brilliant think of them as competent enough to not immediately kill everyone, but don’t expect strategic thinking.

The game runs reasonably well on mid-range Android devices. On my test device with 4GB RAM, frame rates stayed smooth during normal gameplay but dipped slightly during intense moments like when a Moloch (giant jellyfish monster) decided to tear through the hull while the reactor was overheating. Graphics settings let you dial back effects if your phone struggles.
